Renting an apartment in Tel Aviv - all the musts
Updated: Dec 13, 2020
Everything you need to know, do and learn before renting an apartment in Tel Aviv - the full guide!

First step
Before you go over apartments ads, it is important that you will know what you are looking for in an apartment. One of the best ways to do so is to make a list of things you are looking for in your next apartment. Here is my checklist and it is built from things I have found to be musts:
How many bedrooms do you need?
Do you need a furnished apartment?
Elevator and parking - are they a must?
Do you need a balcony / rooftop / garden?
What areas of the city are you willing to live in?
Knowing what you are looking for will help you go through the sea of apartments ads out there much faster and eliminate irrelevant apartments that are going to waist your time. And time in Tel Aviv apartments hunt, is one of the most important things we have ;)

Second step
Going over ads and screening irrelevant apartments
When you go on a website to search for apartments, mark as many parameters as you can and be as specific as you can. There are so many apartments out there and you want to get the ones that can actually fit your needs.
If you make your search broader, it might result with tons of ads to go through, but it can be very frustrating since most of them won't be relevant for you.

Tip: Mark about 500 NIS more than your budget, everything in Israel is negotiable and owners knows it
Find a great Real Estate Agent
Having a real estate agent in Tel Aviv is a huge plus. As a Real Estate agent, I find myself doing much more than negotiating the apartment's price and contract terms. I mostly deal with non Israeli clients and our relationship goes way beyond t and can include buying furniture (I have great taste :P ), dealing with utilities, the TLV eiryia, getting a car parking sticker and more. Having a real estate agent also gives you peace and quiet when dealing with contract terms, rent prices and anything you need to get from the owners - I have tons of experience negotiating those things and getting you the best possible deal :)
