A lot of Tel Avivians made Aliyah and settled in the city. Part of them already found their apartment whilst they were still abroad.
Since finding an apartment for rent in Tel Aviv is not a simple task, this might be a very good way to go.
So how do you actually do it?
There are a few recommendations I can offer you here - they can all assist you even before you arrive in Israel and will give you an idea about price range of Tel Aviv rentals.
Search the Israeli boards
Some websites have English boards and some don't publish in English.
Start with the ones that do have them and practice your Hebrew with the one that don't have them. This can give you a general idea about the selection in Tel Aviv.
Find a good real estate agent
This is a good way to see what is out there since most of the good Tel Aviv apartments are in the hands of the real estate agents. Most of them are not listed in the boards.
This can give you a better idea about price and neighborhoods.
Open your mind to other neighborhoods
We can't all live in the Old North by Gordon beach. There are some really good neighborhoods in the city center that are a 5 minutes scooter drive from the beach.
Try looking in other areas beside the Old North - the selection there is much bigger. Also - there are a lot of new projects that are affordable in neighborhood like Florentine, Neve Shaa'nan and Shapira. All of them are 10 minutes scooter ride from the beach.
